Friday 18th June was the opening night of Jes' exhibition with the Foundation Art & Design course in Chesterfield. Her work, titled Fixed Boundaries, comprised of approximately 50 paper cuttings depicting countries or regions that were once under the rule of the British Empire. These were hung alongside similar cuttings of the four member countries of the U.K and a wood cutting of the Republic of Ireland. Together these drawings are about the meaning and effects of borders and national identity which relate to her position as an Irish national living in England and the cuttings themselves are very pretty.
